On The Road Again

Peter

Was 'chatting' with my mate Graeme on Skype earlier this afternoon when the subject of a bike ride came up. Graeme mentioned that it was raining and said something about not wanting to loose any skin on the road today.... Fair enough. He went off to do some house work, so I got back to what I was doing on my computer...

Next thing, another mate, Damon pops up (Skype) and invites me out on a ride with him.... and Graeme!

What?

So now he does want to go? "Ok, but only if you both come and pick me up" I said. 30 minutes later (or thereabouts) we headed out on a 'slow ride' together. I went out in front.... making the best of it, as this was only my second ride on my Giant OCR Zero since April and I probably wouldn't be in front for long. I had only gone about 100 metres when I heard Damon calling out and turned to see him and Graeme about 50 metres behind me...

Commuting...

Having been asked to come out for a ride with my friends Graeme & Damon yesterday, I felt a renewed interest in bike riding. I am wondering if yesterdays ride was a bit of a 'trick' because the guys had been scheming... looking for way to get me back on my bike(s) for weeks.

I guess it worked.

Having enjoyed the 'easy' 10km ride yesterday (they were running), i decided it was time to start using my bike to go to work as I have done previously. After all, its only about 2.5 km!

I took my trusty Kojima K3000 out this morning but then decided to be a little more adventurous after lunch. I dusted off my Specialized Demo 9, put some air in the tires (it had been unused for over a year!) and rode back to work.... twice (had to come home for something ;-).

Any 'hard core' Mountain Bikers or DH'ers out there would probably cringe at the thought of me riding an amazing piece of engineering like the Demo around town, but hey, that's the truth of it... What can I say?

Peter Likes Bikes...

I like riding bikes....

But, anyone who has spent any time on this site already knows that. If not, you can read more about it here.

BTW, the 'title' for this blog was inspired by a website I like called: Lee Likes Bikes.

I like this site because it has lots of great stories and reviews about bikes and... the author likes bikes (obviously) and Motos... He even owns a Specialized Demo 8 (mine is a 9) and a Honda CRF450X like I do.... so it's gotta be cool, right?

My biggest problem with bikes is the fact that I'm not very consistent (and not very fit... and getting too old, etc). I love to ride bikes, but I like to do other things too, so i get 'distracted'. I got out on one of my bikes today, for the first time in months, because one of my mates, Graeme, asked me to follow him while has running. He wanted me to measure the distance he was running with my cycle computer.

Purchased from a friend for only $50.00.
I upgraded the seat, peddles & tyres. I added tri-bars and a new cycle computer. Other than that, it's in good condition and works well... although it has now been surpassed by a new one. (See story on the Giant OCR Zero)
