Muddy Waters...

OK, so maybe buying a couple of new bikes in the middle of winter isn't the smartest idea in the world.... but it is FUN!... (even if a little cold & wet). Besides, who has time to feel the cold when you are having this much fun...?
A few photos of the 'clean-up' after one of our first rides together...
A pair of new Honda's

A few months ago, my eldest daughter Kylie came to me with a plan and a request for help to find her new hubby a very special Birthday present. A couple of weeks (and lots of plannning/sneaking around) later, we 'shocked' Shannon with a brand new '07 Honda CRF450X for his birthday.... (You may be able to read more about that story on their website: http://the-parnells.net if ever they get around to updating it..)
While planning all of the above, I began forming my own plan of purchasing a couple of Bikes for both my son and I. After a reasonable amount of research and discussion, I settled on two new Honda's. An '07 Honda CRF450X for myself and an '07 Honda CRF230 for my son.
The attached slideshow photos were taken on the first afternoon at a farm property near Albany, WA, after picking the bikes up from Albany Motorcycles.

Got out for a good ride late in the afternoon. Was able to cover a variety of differing terrain until I had to switch to reserve (@89km on the trip meter) and come home.... It was a good ride (first time I had gone out by myself on my new bike). I covered a total of about 40Km today.
I had arranged to go to Shannon & Kylie's place in the evening and headed off on the bike just after dinner. As I passed through the middle of town, I passed a cop car going the other way. My first thought was: "Here we go" and sure enough they made a hasty turn-around and came after me. I pulled over as soon as I spotted their flashing lights, even though I had already slowed down in anticipation. The officer that spoke to me first seemed to be expecting something different when I removed my helmet. I could be wrong but got the impression he was expecting a younger person and was 'checking me out'.
It's Raining Again....

Much of Australia has been in the grip of a horrible drought for some time now. The rural sector (our farming communities) for the most part, are desperate for rain!
The Area around where I live in Western Australia has suffered too, although maybe not as bad as some other areas in the state/country.
I feel for the farmers and pray for rain along with many others.
But... I do find it rather ironic, having just purchased a new motorcycle, that it has rained everyday since I've had it.... Hey, it doesn't matter! I'm happy for those that need the rain and besides, it's a "dirt bike". Dirt bikes love mud and water helps to keep the dust down so it's all good.
Now, if only my new boots were better at keeping the water out... but that's another story....
