Finding My Way...

Given my interest in Motorcycles/Bicycles and Technology, it shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that I like to find ways to incorporate the two.
A couple of years ago, I purchased a neat little gizmo to use with my Dell Axim PDA. It was an 'Aktronix' Bluetooth GPS that I purchased on E-Bay. Amazing little device! It has a built in rechargeable battery (similar to some mobile phones) and will run for about 20hrs before needing a recharge. It also has a USB recharge option and a 5v power pack. I use it with my 'OziExplorer' software on both my Dell Latitude D400 Laptop and My Dell Axim X50V. The combination works very well.
Commuting...
Submitted by Peter on Fri, 17/08/2007 - 19:00.Having been asked to come out for a ride with my friends Graeme & Damon yesterday, I felt a renewed interest in bike riding. I am wondering if yesterdays ride was a bit of a 'trick' because the guys had been scheming... looking for way to get me back on my bike(s) for weeks.
I guess it worked.
Having enjoyed the 'easy' 10km ride yesterday (they were running), i decided it was time to start using my bike to go to work as I have done previously. After all, its only about 2.5 km!
I took my trusty Kojima K3000 out this morning but then decided to be a little more adventurous after lunch. I dusted off my Specialized Demo 9, put some air in the tires (it had been unused for over a year!) and rode back to work.... twice (had to come home for something ;-).
Any 'hard core' Mountain Bikers or DH'ers out there would probably cringe at the thought of me riding an amazing piece of engineering like the Demo around town, but hey, that's the truth of it... What can I say?
Peter Likes Bikes...
Submitted by Peter on Fri, 17/08/2007 - 02:51.I like riding bikes....
But, anyone who has spent any time on this site already knows that. If not, you can read more about it here.
BTW, the 'title' for this blog was inspired by a website I like called: Lee Likes Bikes.
I like this site because it has lots of great stories and reviews about bikes and... the author likes bikes (obviously) and Motos... He even owns a Specialized Demo 8 (mine is a 9) and a Honda CRF450X like I do.... so it's gotta be cool, right?
My biggest problem with bikes is the fact that I'm not very consistent (and not very fit... and getting too old, etc). I love to ride bikes, but I like to do other things too, so i get 'distracted'. I got out on one of my bikes today, for the first time in months, because one of my mates, Graeme, asked me to follow him while has running. He wanted me to measure the distance he was running with my cycle computer.
Collie Day Ride

On Sunday the 12th of August, 2007, Shannon and I headed off early in the morning for what would become one of the most exillerating group rides I have ever been a part of.
We left home at 6:30am (bikes already loaded on the trailer the night before) and met some friends from Albany and Kojonup at the kojonup roadhouse at 7am. After fueling up (cars and bellies) we headed off in a 3 car convoy for the 90 minute drive to Collie. Based on previous reports, I was expecting to see another 5 or 6 bikes (other than our 5), but was pleasantly surprised to find a dozen of them (including one quad) itching to get out for a great day in the bush around Collie.
This was my first 'big' dirt bike ride in many years and the first 'real' opportunity to put my new CFR450X to the test. Once everyone was ready to go (some last minute repairs including a puncture), all 18 of us headed off around 9:30am. (the quad rider had a pillion!)
