Harley @10 Weeks (with Whisper)
Three weeks after picking up Harley, our Golden Retriever Puppy, he's settling in well and becoming quite adventurous (as any health puppy should be)!
Whisper, our 7 yr old Lowchen must be wondering what is going on... 'How come he is growing so fast?' In just three weeks, Harley is already big enough to challenge Whisper for 'top dog' position, and while I suspect Whisper will put on a brace face for a bit longer, I'm guessing Harley will soon be the new 'Boss' around here...
Even our normally assertive cat Shanty is a little 'bowled over' by Harley's Enthusiasm an playful determination!
The above slide show contains a number of images (Harley & Whisper) taken in our Yard earlier this evening.
Along came Harley

A few weeks ago, we started looking seriously into the idea of adding another 'member' to our family. Mindy and I started looking online at various websites. We had talked about getting another dog, on and off, since loosing West back in February this year.
Out with Old, In with the Older??

In June 2007, while looking into buying a new motorcycle for my son and assisting with the purchase of a new bike for my son-in-law, I also bought a new bike for my self. The '07 Honda CRF450X is an amazing piece of technology: Fast, Powerful, Light, etc... The only problems being, at almost 44, I'm not so fast, and definitely not so 'light' as I once was... And. after a difficult year (two injuries), I decided it was time for a change of pace.
So, out with the '07 CRF450X and in with the '05 Honda XR650R. This may seem like a backwards step for many but I can tell you (after only 100km in the saddle) that it was the right choice for me!
The CRF450X was a race bread fire breathing enduro machine... fast, light and great for corner to corner sprints on a motorcross track, but not much good at cruising down your average fire access road or along the railway lines (the kind of riding I do most of the time), unless you are trying to race the midday express... I don't enjoy going that fast anymore!
Who is Your Idol?

One of my many interests in life is music. I like to listen to a variety of different music, although, to be honest, I have to admit being a big fan of the kind if music that 'influenced' me as I was growing up. I don't know if this is true for everyone... but sometimes when I hear an 'old song' (by old I am referring to the 80's), I not only remember the words and the tune... I also recall the 'time' and the place.
Sometimes, it is as if I can 'smell it' too. I remember the kinds of things I was doing: Driving to work in my first car. Talking to a friend, or even a 'girlfriend'. I remember laying on my bed, listening to music and trying to imagine what life would be like when I "grew up".
A lot of these memories were brought back recently when my eldest daughter returned from a trip to Melbourne. She brought back a stack of 'old' DVD's (Video that had be "re-mastered" on DVD and a couple of more recent concerts with old music on them. These included 'video recordings' of Dire Straits, Mark Knopfler, The Police, Sting, Genesis and Phil Collins.
