Kites

I have played around with kites, on-and-off, for quite a few years, but a couple of years ago, I decided to get a little more 'serious' about kite flying.

The attached photos are of me with one of my kites: as you can see from these shots, sport kites can be a bit of a hand full.

This kite is 2.4 m wide and made of the same materials as a parachute. In mildly windy weather, it pulls like a freight train and can easily lift me off the ground. This kite is not quite as big as the ones used for kite surfing but it is a lot of fun! I also have a smaller 1.8 m 'training kite'.

The kite in these photos came from Hold The Line Kites in Perth, Western Australia.

I even built a "kite buggy" (with the help of my son-in-law) but that wasn't one of my most successful ventures.... it turned out to be a lot harder than I thought... but who knows, I might get the hang of it one day?
